My favorite thing about this job is working with couples that know exactly what they want: for their day to feel personal, creative, and true to who they are. My path to this dream job has been a bit unconventional (more on this below) but each and every part of my story has been integral to getting me right here, where I get to work with you to bring your dream wedding to life.
finally
If I’ve learned one thing in my six years of professional wedding planning, it’s that it might be the only job in the world where my type A personality that thrives on being hyper-organized and building out finely-tuned timelines marries perfectly (pun intended) with my type B creative side that revels in wedding colors, centerpieces, and the most perfectly-designed decor. So while I will absolutely be up late into the night triple checking your vendor contracts one night and keeping track of your budget like it’s my own money on the line, I’ll also be the one geeking out over the custom dice set favors we brought to life and finding a way to creatively tie in that obscure dream detail you vaguely mentioned on our intake call.
Whether you're planning a 30-person celebration at a bookstore or a full weekend event with custom cocktails named after your favorite characters, I'm here to handle both the logistics and the vision so you can actually enjoy the wedding process instead of drowning in the details.
I started KL Coordination in 2020, but honestly, my training for this job started way earlier than that. I grew up in a tiny farming town in Michigan (population: less than 300) where my Mom and Grandma were constantly hosting massive family gatherings. They really did it all: weddings, baby showers, birthdays, you name it. By the time I was a teenager, I knew how to set up a buffet line, manage a crowd, and clean up after a party like it was second nature. After high school, I went to college at Michigan State, got a degree in arts and humanities with a focus on visual and performing arts, and then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to teach high school chemistry and forensic science through Teach for America. Teaching was incredible. It became my foundation for learning how to anticipate problems before they happen, communicate clearly under pressure, and build systems that actually work. But after a few years, I realized I wanted to combine my love of hosting, my organizational skills, and my creative background into something that felt more like me.
That’s where KL Coordination comes in.
What I love most about this work is getting to know the couples I’m lucky enough to work with.
Like really, genuinely know them. I want to hear about your D&D campaign, your favorite book series, and that perfect playlist you've been curating for years. I care about the details because I know they're what make your wedding feel like yours, instead of like everyone else's.
Outside of weddings, I live in the Triangle with my partner Dasean and our cat, Melody. I'm obsessed with bubble tea, I’m a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have more plants than I can count (including a massive monstera I'm unreasonably proud of), and I'm always down for a good fantasy novel or a concert. If you're looking for a planner who'll treat your wedding like it's the most important day of the year, I would be honored to be part of your journey!
I love unconventional wedding ideas. My soul is lit up by couples who are absolutely set on doing their wedding day their way. I will always be over-the-moon excited to work with people who prefer a wedding that’s a true reflection of who they are over an arbitrary checklist of “shoulds” and “should-nots”.
So whether you want an intimate affair with every guest dressed as a character from your favorite sci-fi series or a 200-person traditional celebration with black-tie flair, our goal is simple: to take the stress and decision fatigue off your plate so you can actually enjoy the moment, and to make sure your wedding day feels exactly how you imagined it.
And maybe even better!
Whether it's my plant collection, my bubble tea habit, or your wedding timeline, when I care about something, I go all in. I can probably recite your vendor schedule in my sleep by the time your wedding day rolls around, and yes, that's exactly the energy you want from your planner.
When you mention wanting to incorporate keyblades or that you want to walk down the aisle to The Shire, I understand it from the depths of my soul! Your references, fandoms, and obsessions aren't lost on me, and I'll never make you question incorporating the things you love into your wedding day.
When we say we leave no stone unturned, we mean it. We're talking multiple pages, color-coded, and sometimes even with minute-by-minute breakdowns. We don't leave anything to chance to ensure nothing falls through the cracks on the big day.
We give you (and your vendors) access to everything. No hidden details, no gatekeeping information. You'll always know exactly what's happening, when it's happening, and who's responsible for making it happen. We believe in open communication to ensure everyone’s on the same page.
I triple-check contracts, follow up on every detail, and genuinely care about getting things right. Your priorities become my priorities, and I'll never make you feel silly for asking questions or wanting something specific.
Working with Kristi was truly an experience we will never forget. From start to finish, Kristi was an absolute joy to work with. She has the most beautiful heart, and it shows in every detail of her work.
She reached out to us about supplying candles for a wedding she was coordinating for a family whose celebration was being brought to life through Wish Upon a Wedding, and we felt so honored to be a small part of something so meaningful. Her organization, calm presence, and thoughtful communication made everything feel effortless. Even when the weather shifted and the timeline needed last-minute adjustments, nothing ever felt frantic or stressful. It was smooth sailing the entire time, which is such a gift on a wedding day.
We are incredibly grateful to have been part of this wedding and look forward to many more opportunities to work with Wish Upon a Wedding and with Kristi again. I would jump at the chance to collaborate with her in the future and cannot recommend her highly enough.”
